St. Patrick's Day Dinner

So today happens to be St. Patrick's Day and the first day of Spring beak...for me Spring beak doesn't mean I won't be doing any school (I did school work today) but it means one day closer to Spring and then Summer, Fall and then back to Winter.  The month that a lot people get tired of and long for Spring to come.  But when it is Summer,  I think and long for Winter.  I mean as much as I love hot Summer days, wearing short sleeves, going to the beach, getting lighter hair, going on evening walks, wearing flip-flops, Fourth of July, etc.   My mind somehow always seems to go back to Winter and skips right over Fall and gets filled with thinking of white powdery snow, warm drinks, the cold breezy wind blowing in my face and hair, taking photos when it is raining outside, and then back to thinking of that white powdery stuff.  And then when I think of that white powdery stuff,  my mind opens a new tab and fills it all up on: ski lifts, snowboards, hot drinks, and slopes with tons of snowboarders.  *Sigh* sorry I got distracted there for a minute.  ;)   I start writing about how it is St. Patrick's Day and the first day of Spring beak,  but somehow it actually turned out to be about the snow...hmm...

Anyway Happy St. Patrick's Day!!  My Mom and sister RC are on an adventure.  What fun adventures are.  Seeing new things, eating new things,  hearing peoples accents, and all the fun things that come with going on a adventure!  And after your adventure you are left with memories.  Some that will escape your memory, but they are never truly lost. Once you capture the moment, you will have it forever and every time you look at the picture, a new memory will be remembered.  Ok, sorry...I'll get back on track here.  Let's see...oh, yes...St. Patrick's Day!!

Today was the right way to start off a week.  I'm usually one of those people who do not enjoy Mondays.  But I was able to try something new...make the whole St. Patrick's day meal!  Which was a new thing for me.  Oh, and a tip for also starting off the week right, is going on a walk!  Anyways here are some photos of tonight's dinner.  Unfortunately the lighting wasn't 100% what I would have wanted it to be but anyways.

mashed potatoes...that don't look white in this pic

this gives you a idea of what this half of the table looked like...sorry about the lighting

on the table and ready to eat

Thank you for taking the time to read about my rumblings! Whether or not you do anything for St. Patrick's Day,  I hope you had a wonderful day, even if it was a Monday! =)

My first blog post!

Here I am.  I have joined the little community of bloggers in this big wide world.

I've never really been a huge writer...I've tried to write short stories, but failed.  However, I have found that I truly enjoy writing poems...mostly freestyle free verse poems .  So on the topic of poems, I thought that I would go ahead and share with you one of my most recent freestyle free verse poems.

The Shadow of the Past is Gone

With every step I took,  another one just like it clicked on the stone cobble way
Looking behind me something vanished, it looked so much like me...well the old me
Had I continued on that path I walked away from

Then when I looked back again it stood there making me take a long hard look
And making me feel scared, but also happy at the same time
Here was a person that was haunting me with my past
And making me see what I would have been like had I not changed
What makes me happy is that I made a choice and left what would have been

As I walked towards it, it turned and vanished into the dark cold night
And then I turned around and walked the opposite way
Glad that the shadow of the past had vanished
That's where it belongs and that's where I want it to stay

The happy shadows of life
